Lynnfield Senior Center Visits LHS Makerspace

On Monday, October 30th, members of the Lynnfield Senior Center came to Lynnfield High School for a Makerspace tour. While at LHS, the seniors used the green screen to travel to foreign countries, they coded Sphero robotic balls, learned about 3D printing, used a Cameo Silhouette to make book marks, played piano using bananas on a makey-makey, wrote cards of encouragement for sick children and discovered augmented reality.  The Lynnfield Senior Center members and the Lynnfield High School students shared stories, laughs and learned from each other as they tinkered, played, built, created and explored the Makerspace stations together.
This is just the first step of collaboration between the Lynnfield Senior Center and the students at LHS. Surveys taken revealed that there is a great interest for classes on email, social media, and cell phone usage.  Janice Alpert, the Library Media Specialist at LHS along with Linda Naccara, the Senior Center Director will be collaborating and generating more classes and collaborations  in the future.
