Edcamp Northshore 2017 by Molly Malone
EdCamp is the “un-conference” led by educators and facilitated by anyone wishing to participate. This year’s EdCamp Northshore was held at Lynnfield High School on September 16th, and the Help Desk put together hosted a Makerspace Open House for Edcamp participants in which they discussed the activities, events, curricula tie-ins and community service opportunities at the LHS Makerspace.
The Makerspace is a creative outlet that offers students an opportunity to use new technologies, participate in school-wide contests, and showcase their creative abilities. The duct tape workshop, for example, gave students the chance to design and create anything, with one restriction: the only material allowed is duct tape!

The Makerspace is also home to the 3-D printer, which most students would not have access to outside of school. It is open to both class usage and individual use.
