Google Classroom Updates for 10/24/14 By Zack Glowik
This October, Google added a number of new features to Google Classroom.
Groups integration
You are now able to pre-populate classrooms with existing Google groups. This is useful for teachers that may have been using Google Groups before Classroom was released, as it enables them to quickly and easily transfer to using Google Classrooms.
“Mark as Done”
This is a new feature that allows students to simply click a button that will mark them as having done the assignment. This is helpful for assignments where there may not be any physical (or digital) paper or presentation to hand in, such as watching a lecture online or completing a handout given during class.
Export All Grades
This is a new feature for teachers that allows them to download all the grades for all assignments at once. This enables them to easily export to a gradebook.
Sorting
A small feature that allows the teacher to sort students by first or last name.
Teacher Controls
Teachers are now able to set whether or not the class is able to post and comment in the stream. They can also block individual students from posting or commenting and can view previously deleted posts or comments.
We will continue to post updates about Google Classroom.
