CloudOn – MSWord App by Max Cohee
What is the best iOS app for editing/creating Microsoft Word Doucuments? Many seem to believe it is CloudOn. It is a free app on iTunes for both iPhone and iPad. Not only this, but it is also available for most Android Phones/Tablets. It will soon be available for the Kindle Fire HD.
What makes this app different? The thing that makes this app different from the others is it’s method of storage. CloudOn does not maintain their own cloud storage, and instead, use others. In saving/editing your files, they are synced with your Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, or SkyDrive accounts Box is a fairly new and popular cloud which has a main focus of being “multi-platform”. By that I mean it syncs all of the devices connected to one account at once, keeping them all up-to-date. Dropbox is a more personalized file-sharing site, much like the old MegaUpload (removed from the internet), or it’s successor, MEGA. Weare all very familiar with Google Drive, and I love this app’s fuction to combine with it. SkyDrive is pretty much just Microsoft’s take on Google drive using Windows IDs (now called “Microsoft Accounts”).
How does the app function? Based off of customer reviews and videos, very well. It is basically just a smaller version of Microsoft Office. There are none of those formatting errors you get when you try to edit a document in pages. It is very fast and smooth and people seem to really like it.
“ It gives you a free way to have all the functionality of Microsoft Word on your iPad. Sure, it is not as fast as being on a full computer, but it works exactly the way Word does and gives you on-the-road access to this otherwise expensive functionality.” – Satisfied Customer
Due to the app’s versatility and ease-of-use, it seems to be the superior app of this “genre”. So why not download it and give it a try? After all, it is FREE.
